Hand Sanitizer & Antimicrobial Wipes

Keep the germs away with Hand Sanitizer.  An effective hand sanitizer typically has a unique formulation of alcohol with a special blend of moisturizers to kill germs on hands and leave them feeling soft and refreshed. The alcohol in a hand sanitizer like Purell Hand Sanitizer breaks down the germs' cell walls, eliminating them within seconds. When applied to one's hands, hand sanitizer with alcohol is among the safest known antiseptics to eliminate and prevent the spreading of germs.

(back to top) HOW HAND SANITIZER WORKS

How Hand Sanitizer Works

A hand sanitizer works by stripping away the outer layer of oil on the skin. This usually prevents bacteria present in the body from coming to the surface of the hand.

The hands are one of the most frequent transmission routes for many types of infections as they come into direct contact with known points of entry for bacteria (e.g., mouth, nose, conjunctiva of the eyes).   Practicing proper hand hygiene by using hand sanitizers such as Purell instant hand sanitizer and Purell hand sanitizer wipes is one of the easiest ways to help reduce infections.

Antibacterial hand sanitizer comes in many different forms such as, foaming hand sanitizer, liquid soap dispensers, antimicrobial hand sanitizer, hand sanitizer wipes, waterless hand sanitizer, and hand sanitizer pumps.

Keep The Germs Away

While no hand sanitizer is indicated to prevent Swine Flu (H1N1), one of the ways you can (help) protect yourself from Swine Flu is by practicing good hand hygiene. For example, keeping your hands clean by washing with soap and water, or using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer when soap and water may not be available, such as when you're on the go.  Purell instant hand sanitizer kills common germs that may cause illness. Because germs can be spread in a number of ways and one's chances of actually developing an illness depends on a number of factors, no maker of these hand sanitizer products can guarantee that hand sanitizers will prevent disease. However, proper hand hygiene is one of the most important ways to prevent the spreading of illness.

The proper way to practice hand hygiene is to use soap and water, especially when your hands are visibly dirty. Wash your hands with soap and water for 15 to 20 seconds. But, when soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Apply enough product to thoroughly wet hands, then rub hands together briskly until dry.
