Infrared proximity sensor activates dryer when hands are held under air-outlet opening and deactivates when hands are removed, saving energy and minimizing costs by limiting operation to periods of active use. Dynamically balanced single-inlet fan powerfully pushes air in a wide-band oval pattern. Reliable, highly efficient heating element ensures hot-spot-free air temperatures. Self-lubricating motor's automatic thermal-overload switch eliminates the potential for overheating. Electronic air-outlet monitor shuts down the unit if the infrared sensor lens is covered by an inanimate object, such as tape or gum. Vandal-resistant, die-cast aluminum grill keeps unauthorized hands away from sensitive components.
